How to Scan with FileCure

There are two types of scans that you can choose from, Full Scan and a File Extension Scan.

The following includes each scan, and a description of the scan type.

Full Scan: Scans the entire system for any problematic files. This is not recommended if you are trying to open a particular file.

File Extension Scan: Type a single file extension to scan. The file extension is scanned and suggested programs are displayed in the Scan Results section. This scan is recommended if you are trying to open a specific file.

Once you have decided which scan you need, you can begin by clicking Scan.

To start a File Extension Scan:

  1. From the Main window, select the Scan page.
  2. Type the file extension in the Search box, or drag and drop a file in the Search box.
  3. Click the Start Scan button.
  4. When the scan completes click Fix Now to go to the Results.

You can also start the File Extension Scan directly from the file in Windows Explorer or from a desktop icon by right clicking the file and select Scan with FileCure.

To start a Full Scan:
  1. From the Main window, select the Scan page.
  2. Click the Start Scan button.
  3. When the scan completes click Fix Now to go to the Results.

You can perform scans on an automatic basis using the Schedule feature.

Once a scan has started, you can let it run in the background and you can perform other operations. When the scan is complete, a list of detected items is displayed.

  • Stop the Scan

During the scanning process you have the option of stopping the scan. If you stop the scan before it is finished, any detected items are displayed.

To stop the scan or navigate to another page:

  • Click the Cancel button.
