How to use the File Wizard:
You can launch the File Wizard by going to the File menu in the top-left corner and selecting Open File Wizard. The File Wizard is broken down into 3 steps to help you find your files
- Step 1 – EasyFileViewer will display all recently created or downloaded files in common locations, including the Desktop, Documents folder, and Downloads folder. If you see the file you want to open you can simply double click it. If you cannot find the file click the “please click here” link in the lower-right corner to proceed.
- Step 2 – You can also search for the file, by default the search looks at common locations where it is likely to find the files. You will be shown thumbnail images of the files and can double-click the file you want to view it. If you still cannot find the file you need please click the link in the lower-right corner to proceed to the next step.
- Step 3 - There is an advanced search feature if you can still not locate the files you need. This opens a side pane where you can select folders, hard drives, or removable media you would like to search. Select the drive you would like to search, and enter the name of the file in the field to the left titled “Type Here to Search”.
If you still cannot locate your file, you can search your entire computer with the Search All function. At step 3 of the EasyFileViewer Wizard you will see the words To search more areas of your PC Click here. Clicking the word here will search your entire computer. This search may take a few moments.
You can also perform a “wildcard” search if you know the extension of the file you are looking for. For instance if you want to view a .txt file and knew it was on your C:\ drive, you could select C:\ under My Computer, and then search for “ *.txt” (with no quotation marks). This will then return every file that ends in the extension .txt in the location selected.
